There’s an app for that…

Kelli and Dustin met on a dating app called Hinge. To this day, Dustin cannot believe they found each other so randomly and yet their relationship so perfect. Early on in their relationship Kelli and Dustin both maintained that they would probably never get married, to anyone. But as the love formed and grew, neither could deny that they were meant for each other. Kelli was solo traveling in Southeast Asia when Dustin realized that he had fallen in love with her. One night, during that time, Kelli and Dustin were on the phone talking and Dustin, awkwardly started to say “I love you” but caught himself. It comes as no surprise to anyone that Kelli instantly knew what he was trying to say. While Kelli will forever tease Dustin for that slip, she didn’t say anything that night. The day Kelli returned from her trip abroad, Dustin told her “I love you.” A huge smile spread across Kelli’s face and she said “I love you, too.”

A few months went by and Kelli and Dustin started talking about living together and while neither wanted to admit it, they each had found the person they wanted to marry. The March after Kelli moved in with Dustin, they took a long weekend and went skiing in Breckenridge, CO. Dustin has grown up skiing; Kelli, on the other hand, did not. Kelli had never seen mountains of that size before and Dustin will never forget the look on Kelli’s face as they drove from Denver to Breckenridge. It was at that point that Dustin knew, when he proposed, he wanted it to be in the mountains on a ski trip.

Fast forward a year. Kelli and Dustin were taking another ski trip to Heavenly Resort in South Lake Tahoe, CA. With the help of their friends Bekah and Brian, Dustin coordinated the proposal. The planning was the easy part. The execution was bit more tricky. First, Dustin got patted down and all his luggage was searched at the airport right in front of Kelli, who had no idea about her engagement ring hidden in Dustin’s briefcase. Dustin then had to smuggle a bottle of champagne they bought in France into the hotel. Dustin and Brian then had to scope out where Dustin was going to ask Kelli to marry him. It had to be a place overlooking Lake Tahoe but also had to be a run that both Kelli and Bekah could ski down. The latter quickly narrowed down the choices. At the end of their second day skiing, after Dustin and Brian got stuck on a chairlift for an hour and a half and after Kelli took a gnarly fall, Dustin said they should do one more run that had a view of the lake. You know, for the Gram. Kelli and Dustin went to pose for a picture and that’s when Dustin turned to Kelli, grabbed her by the shoulders and said, “I need to tell you something.” Finally at that point Kelli knew what was happening and started to get excited. Dustin got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and asked, “Kelli Church, will you marry me?” And she said, “Oh my god, yes!!”
